Terms and conditions of Transport services

ODRA Terms and Conditions for Transport of Racing Pigeons

  1. Insurance and Liability

    • Odra provides a goods-in-transit insurance policy that covers the content of each 25-bird basket for up to R5000. This insurance covers losses due to fire, theft, and accidents only.

    • Insurance claims must be reported to the nearest police station within 48 hours of the incident. A valid South African Police Service (SAPS) case number must be provided to process any claims.

  2. Booking and Cancellation

    • Bookings for transport services must be made at least 60 days prior to the start of the transport services to qualify for a 7-day cooling-off period. During this period, clients may cancel their booking without penalty.

    • If a booking is made less than 60 days before the transport services start, the 7-day cooling-off period does not apply, and cancellations will not be accepted after this period.

    • Clients may transfer or sell their transport privilege to another party at any time. Odra must be notified of the transaction at least one day before the transfer.

  3. Transport Conditions

    • Pigeons must be properly and comfortably secured and sealed in their respective baskets, as provided by Odra, and a pre-numbered seal, provided by Odra must be used to seal the basketing flap of the basket allocated to the client by Odra.

    • Odra is not responsible for the health and condition of pigeons upon arrival back at his loft; however, we commit to maintaining the highest standards of care during transit.

    • Pigeons not willing to leave the basket at the liberation site at the time of release, on their own accord or of free will, will not be chased or forced to fly by the conveyer who will ensure the safe return of the bird to his owner 24 hours after the race has closed.

    • Pigeons will be watered and fed twice daily during transit as well as the morning before liberation, to ensure sufficient water intake by the competing race birds before liberation

    • Clients are responsible for ensuring that all pigeons sent for transport comply with local and national health and safety regulations. Pigeons that do not meet these standards may be denied transport at the discretion of Odra.

  4. Responsibilities of the Client

    • Clients must ensure that all pigeons are free from disease and fit for transport. Any pigeons showing signs of illness may be isolated or returned at the client’s expense.

    • Proper identification and registration of all pigeons being transported must be completed prior to transport. This includes any necessary documentation as required by SARPU rules.

  5. Dispute Resolution

    • Disputes will be resolved through the Small Claims Court for amounts below R20,000 or may be referred for arbitration to the East Rand Commercial Arbitration Board for larger amounts.

    • Odra reserves the right to report any outstanding amounts owed by a client to all credit bureaus in South Africa.

    • Any other terms and conditions discussed must be in writing and signed by both parties before it will be recognised as part of these terms and conditions
       

  6. Acceptance of Racing Rules

    • By signing the booking form, the client agrees to adhere to the Odra racing rules available at www.odra.co.za.

By booking transport services with Odra, clients agree to adhere to these Terms and Conditions.
